How Accountability helps you grow to the next level
How Accountability helps you grow to the next level
At Oxygen Mastermind Group, we firmly believe in the power of Accountability and its Impact!
What is Accountability?
We perceive the powerful concept “Accountability” as a responsibility in multiple ways. Accountability is being responsible for being truthful to yourself and your accountable partner as well as being responsible for taking action, reporting to your partners & getting feedback from them on a consistent and scheduled manner. Accountability helps you get clear on the specifics of your business/personal goals and how to get where you want to be.
Why Accountability?
The prime motive behind an accountable partner is that at some point in time we all get into our own comfort zones and become complacent, where we stop pushing our boundaries and that’s where the accountable partners come into place, because they push you
- To get out of your comfort zone,
- Challenge your belief system, thinking pattern and ideas,
- Support and add on to your ideas so that you grow.
- Point out where you are aiming too low and encourage you to reach higher.
How does Accountability work?
Accountability works different for different people. here are few steps that will help you:
- First - Set the Rhythm, you need to decide with your partner a rhythm as when you will be meeting and when will you be speaking with each other. You can speak daily, or once a week and or meet once a week, or once in 15 days. So, decide the rhythm.
- Second - Clarity, be clear as to what to expect from your accountable partner. Set the right expectation with your accountable partner. What is that you want from each other. Both of you should know when to report and when you want to brainstorm.
- Third - Communication, decide the mode of communication for follow up. Communication should be based on the receiver’s style and not the givers style. Some people like to be followed up on WhatsApp, Calls or email. Whatever works for the receiver.
- Fourth - Continuity, make a WWW – Who, What, When - every time you have a discussion with your accountable partner and email or text him/her the same so when you meet next you have continuity of your last action points
Remember, being accountable is your responsibility not your partners. You need to take 100% responsibility for reporting to your accountable partner.
Who can be Your Accountable Partner?
Your accountable partner could be someone who you have a well-built rapport with, someone you trust with consideration that the person pushes you and breaks your limiting beliefs.
What if you are 100% accountable?
If you use accountability appropriately then the outcome will surprise you. You will see a massive growth in your professional and personal life. It will leave you in awe because it will help you put your plans in action, get things done in an orderly manner, and most importantly, help you go to next level!
